Leesfield Parish – 22nd October 2017
Today is the last day for Income Surveys, so if you haven’t done so already please fill one in and place it in the box.. It is particularly important that you complete a form if you have little or no personal income.
The PCC meeting is at St Thomas’, 7pm on Monday 23rd October.
The Bible Study group will meet on Mondays 23rd and 30th October at 1.30 pm. Frank and lively discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Please do be encouraged to come along.
Ladies of Leesfield :–

Bygone Days Part 2. Everyone is warmly invited to join us in St Thomas’ Community Room on Thursday 26th October at 7.30pm as we share our photos and memories of Leesfield from the 1960s onwards. Watch out for hotpants and strange perms!
Coffee morning at 3 Netherlees, 10.30am on Saturday 4th November.
The Parish trip to Chester Christmas Markets leaves Burton St at 9am on Saturday 18th November. Tickets cost £14 each, see Audrey or Roy for details.

On Wednesday 25th October at 9am, St Thomas’ school FUNdraisers are having a Coffee morning and Textile collection. School is paid money for bags of old clothes etc, so this is a great opportunity to have a good sort-out and raise much-needed funds for school.
Oldham Play Action Group are again holding a school holiday Crafts and Fun session in St Thomas’ Community Room on Tuesday 31st October, 1-3pm. All children of primary school age are welcome, but under 8s need to be accompanied by an adult.
This year we will hold our service for All Souls on the afternoon of Sunday 5th November at 3pm. This is a quiet and peaceful service where we remember those who were dear to us whom we see no more and light a candle for them. Before the service there will be a list at the back of church on which you can add the names of those you would like to remember, and those names will be read out during the service.
St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church. Can you spare an hour now and again? See Lesley or sign the list please. We have had a few visitors recently, including some all the way from the USA, and it was great that there was somebody in church to welcome them.
Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages to Liz ( lizzy.dent@googlemail.com ) whenever you want to send. Lots of lovely pictures please! Also, could items for the next edition of “Voice” magazine please be given/sent to Paul ( paulmdent@gmail.com ) as early as possible, as we will be away on the deadline of 12th November and need to do as much as we can before we go.
And don’t forget the clocks go back next weekend!

 Leesfield Parish – 8th October 2017

Income Surveys – Today, regular members of the congregation are asked to complete the diocese’s Annual Income Survey. The survey is needed for the calculation of parish share, which is the amount of money requested from us by the diocese each year to contribute to the costs of – amongst other things – clergy stipends, housing and training.

To calculate the level of parish share we are asked for, the diocese needs to take account of worshippers’ income. This is done by asking you to complete a confidential and anonymous form, which you should only complete if you are 16 or over, and have attended this church at least twelve times in the past twelve months. The forms are individual – so, for example, a husband and wife should each complete their own form. It is also important that everyone who is eligible completes the form, even (indeed, especially) if you have no, or little, personal income. Once you have ticked the relevant box, fold the form over and place it in the sealed box at the back of church before you leave today. Thank you for your help!

St Thomas’ Leesfield School FUNdraisers are having an Autumn Shopping Evening in school at 7pm on Thursday 12th October. There will be lots of local craft and gift stalls, with refreshments available. Why not pop in and maybe buy some early Christmas presents?

DCC & PCC meetings are coming up soon. St Thomas’ DCC is at 7pm on Monday 16th October, and St Agnes’ Open Forum is at 8pm on Wednesday 18th. Both of these meetings are open to all – so please come along! The PCC meeting is at St Thomas’, 7pm on Monday 23rd October.

Ladies of Leesfield :– Tea and Toast – Everyone is warmly invited to join us in St Thomas’ Community Room for Tea, Toast and a chat on Saturday 21st October at 10.30am.

If you are thinking of going on the Ladies Retreat to Shallowford House on the weekend 16th to 18th February next year please could you let Rebecca know as soon as possible. The total cost is £140 per person, and deposits of £25 should be paid by 15th October.

The Churches Together Open meeting will be at Zion Methodist Church, 7.30pm on Tuesday 17th October. All are welcome to join with our fellow Christians from this area as we discuss our future plans for joint services and events.

St Agnes’ Rose Queen Emilia Grace is holding a fancy dress disco on Friday 20th October at 7pm in St Agnes’ school hall. Tickets are £2.50 each, and can be bought from the Rose Queen or retinue mums.

St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church. Can you spare an hour now and again? See Lesley or sign the list please.
