Sunday 8 May 2016

Leesfield Parish May 8th 2016

Confirmation preparation sessions will begin on Wednesday (May 11th ) for both adults and children. If you are thinking about confirmation this year please give your name to Ruth or Edith. There is an information sheet with all the dates – ask Ruth or Edith for one of these.

St. Thomas’ Leesfield FUNdraisers would like to invite you and your friends and family to come along and have a Cream Tea on Thursday 12th May 3-4:30pm.

Next Sunday is Whit Sunday. Service at St Thomas at 9.15 am, then we gather at Ashbourne house at 10.30am to walk to St Thomas, leaving there at 11am, to walk around the parish, then back to St Thomas for a short service. This is a very joyful occasion, do join us!

To celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday, an Afternoon Tea is being held at Lees Library from 2pm until 4pm on Saturday, 11th June, 2016. Lees Band will be attending and playing patriotic songs and the event will include a celebratory toast to the Queen and Birthday Cake!!  The Fundraising Group are asking for donations of raffle prizes.  A list has also been put up at the back of Church, please add your name if you are able to make something for the buffet.  Tickets are on sale now from Audrey or Jenny and the cost is £5 per adult and £2.50 for children.  All proceeds will be given to the Development Fund and ticket sales will be match funded by Barclay's Bank, so please buy your tickets as soon as possible."

Thurs June 30th       St. Thomas’ Leesfield FUNdraiser’s Fizz Fashion Show @ St. Edward’s Church Hall at 7:30pm – tickets available soon from Karen Jakeman

Tickets are now on sale for the Big Band Gala Night on the 2nd July. £10 adults, £5 children (although probably only suitable for older children}, includes buffet supper. There will only be 120 tickets in total because of the seating capacity at St. Edward's Hall, so if you are unable to come because of other commitments please don't buy a ticket as we would love to have a "full house" on the night. However, if you wish to support the event in another way, donations of cash or raffle prizes will be gratefully received.

Sat July 9th               Harvest Queen Amy Jakeman’s “at home” – This will be Amy’s big event when she invites the Rose Queens from other churches.  So please come along and support her.  It starts at 2.30pm with a short service followed by refreshments, a raffle, lots of stalls including chocolate & teddy tombolas.  All donations are gratefully received and should be given to Karen Jakeman or any of the Retinue Mums.
